Grow Together works with schools to create versatile nature-based garden curriculum and special day assemblies designed to prioritize social-emotional learning with students.
Since 2020, our dedicated team has been collaborating with schools in Humboldt County, CA to craft engaging activities and sessions aimed at nurturing emotional well-being and academic growth among students.
Our programming integrates mindfulness and wellness exercises with hands-on garden activities to create immersive learning experiences for students. Students actively participate in caring for the school garden and enjoy fresh fruit and vegetable tastings as part of their educational journey. Our approach emphasizes the use of outdoor environments as spaces for learning, reflection and inquiry that foster self-care practices.
Grow Together will work with your school to develop a unique program that meets the needs of your students. Programming can include weekly in-school learning experiences, seasonal celebrations, fresh food tastings, special assemblies, farm field trips, and more.
Current School Garden Program Development Projects
Alice Birney Elementary - Eureka, CA
Grow Together has worked with Alice Birney Elementary, (a title 1 school in Eureka), since 2020 to develop nature-based garden curriculum and special day assemblies that center social-emotional learning goals. The project is funded by the School Site Council to provide weekly school day learning opportunities for 1st through 5th graders and utilizes grant funding to support weekly after school learning opportunities for TK-5th graders. Learning opportunities include mindfulness/wellness exercises and hands-on garden activities for students on campus to engage with the school garden and always include fresh fruit and/or vegetable tastings.
